So this department has a program dedicated to pre textual stops that lead to illegal searches and a barely literate Chief who thinks running a police force is like a basketball game: no harm, no foul. Even worst he actually said "we pulled a bus over earlier that had some contraband" so...like saying we stopped a car yesterday that had weed in it driven by a dude with long hair so all you guys without haircuts pull over. No questions, until we investigate ourselves and find we did nothing wrong. Absolutely no probable cause to do anything other than issue a traffic citation. Smell a big Lawsuit and justly so.

The stop the deputies performed on the Delaware State University Female LaCrosse team is one of the most despicable stops I've witnessed. The excuse that the stop was due to the bus driving in the left lane is the laziest excuse that a L.E.O could give (especiallywhen the driver wasn't ticketed); then to bring the dogs in, and after they don't hit or signal on any narcotics they go through the luggage and have the audacity to open a young lady's graduation gift and question why she would accept a gift and not know what it was, and to lecture these young women that they should confess to any drugs before they find them when there is none is further proof that race was the motivating factor. Further exacerbating matters the black sheriff is doing everything he can to sweep this under the rug and protect his own. That's why the issue with cops isn't a color of the officer issue; it's a corrupt blue line issue!!! The sheriff should be voted out of office and all the deputies fired!!!

I recently read the story involving the Liberty County Sheriffs Office and the Delaware State University womens lacrosse team which is majority African American. First improper use of a lane does not give probable cause to search someone’s property without consent which shows a lack of knowledge of the law on the deputies and sheriff. It is hard to believe that the sheriff and deputies don’t know the law which is a indication of alternative motives. The sheriff also state that he is a veteran and does not practice racial profiling. I am a veteran and integrity is a cornerstone of being a veteran which the sheriff and deputies clearly lack. This sheriff is a disgrace to other veterans who continue to live by the morals required of a service member or veteran. I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield for 12 years and spent a lot of time at Ft Stewart and based on my experiences find the accounts of the Delaware team to be believable

Some constructive criticism, instead of wasting your time trying to find tiny amounts of marijuana on student athletes, how about you bring your officers up to Atlanta and pull over the people going 100+ mph swerving in and out of lanes… shouldn’t be tough, I encounter at least 2 every day. That seems like much more of a threat to the public than whatever you were trying to do on that bus.

Imagine having a Sheriff that lies to cover for his dirty deputies. Sheriff "no personal belongings were searched". Bodycam footage "personal belongings were searched". I'm willing to bet that these deputies perform many illegal stops daily. The state attorneys office should conduct an investigation into this county sheriff department.

I am appalled by the news of the young women of DSU lacrosse team bus search. Under what law was this search conducted? You cannot tell me that this is the best use of law enforcement time to harass college kids coming back from a game. These deputies bring shame to the entire department.

In typical 1950s southern Sherriff style, they do little more than racially profile from their hidey-holes along the side of the road. black or Hispanic man driving a newer $40k pickup is likely to have a legal fight to keep it after they do ll they can to seize it. why? because that's how they fund themselves. they are little more than road pirates with a badge. i would NEVER move there. they don't dexerve a dime of my money and never will.

Liberty County Sheriff's Office are incompetent. They do not have to have a High School diploma to work there. They continue to be racist . No one should be made to feel unsafe or humiliated by law enforcement or any entity who has sworn to protect and serve them
